The Cluffy Wedge is something that has come up on a number of sites that we have recruited into our network. On Podiatry Arena, there was a discussion of the Cluffy Wedge and Preloading of the Hallux using it to initiate the windlass mechanism earlier. Podiatry Online TV has some videos on the Cluffy Wedge.
The Cluffy Wedge was first described as a separate entity by Dr James Clough asĀ a treatment for functional hallux limitus. It was initially marketed as a extension for a foot orthotic to hold the hallux in a slightly dorsiflexed position. More recently it has been made available at the retail level. Many have used a similar modification for a long time, but not just known it under the tradename of the Cluffy Wedge.
